Getting started

Send your first campaign

From a blank account to a campaign in the inbox: business details, sender, branding, design, test and send.

This guide takes you from a new account to a campaign in your subscribers’ inboxes. Most of it is one-time setup; once it’s done, every campaign after the first takes minutes.

Before you start

Three things need to be in place before a campaign can go out. An Organization Admin does the first two.

  1. Business details in Settings → Compliance: your business name and mailing address. Anti-spam laws require them in every marketing email, and BumbleBlast adds them to the footer for you.
  2. A sender in Settings → Sender/Domains: the name and address your emails come from, with an optional reply-to address, title, licence number and phone for the footer. Before live sending, our team verifies your domain so inboxes trust your email.
  3. Your branding in Settings → My branding: your name, title, company, phone, photo, logo, brand colour and social links. They fill into every design you pick, and the preview updates as you type.

You’ll also need some contacts. If you haven’t added them yet, start with our import guide.

Create the campaign

  1. Go to Campaigns → New campaign.
  2. Give it a name. Only you and your team see it, so make it easy to find later, like “Just Listed: 1234 Maple, May”.
  3. Choose where to start from: pick a design from the list (or the dropdown), one of your saved templates, or a blank design.
  4. Click Create draft. The designer opens with your branding already filled in.

Design the email

  • Click any text to edit it, and click a sample photo to upload your own.
  • Drag in blocks such as headings, text, images, buttons and columns, or a ready-made section such as a listing card, property stats or an agent card.
  • Use Email style to set the font, colours and width for the whole email at once.
  • Personalise with the Personalize menu. A greeting like “Hi {{first_name|there}},” shows the contact’s first name, or “there” when you don’t have one.
  • Switch to mobile preview before you finish. Most people will read it on a phone.

Save the design, then fill in the subject line and preview text, the short line shown after the subject in most inboxes. Our writing guide has tips for both.

Choose your audience

In the Audience section, pick one or more lists and/or segments to send to. You can also leave out people in specific lists, such as a list of current clients for a prospecting email.

BumbleBlast shows how many subscribed contacts will receive it. People who unsubscribed, bounced or reported spam are left out automatically, and nobody gets the email twice even if they’re in more than one list.

Test, check and send

  1. Send yourself a test. Open it on your phone and on your computer, and click every link.
  2. Clear the checklist. BumbleBlast lists anything that still needs attention, such as sample text or photos left in the design, a missing subject, sender or audience, or missing business details.
  3. Review and send. On the review screen, choose Send now or Schedule for later with a date, time and timezone, then type the number of recipients to confirm. If you aren’t an Organization Admin, ask one to review it and send.
Changed your mind?

A scheduled campaign can be cancelled any time before it starts. Once sending begins, emails can’t be recalled, but you can pause the campaign part-way through.

After it sends

Open the campaign’s report to see how many people received, opened and clicked it, which links they clicked, and an hour-by-hour chart of the first 24 hours. Opens and clicks count people, not repeat opens, and clicks from email security scanners are left out.

The most valuable next step is usually a personal one: filter the report to the people who clicked, open their profiles, and follow up. Their timelines show every email they’ve opened, so you’ll know what caught their interest.
