An automation is a short series of emails that sends itself. You set it up once; from then on, everyone who qualifies gets each email at the right moment, without you remembering to send it.
Plan the sequence
Before you open BumbleBlast, answer three questions on paper:
- Who should start it? For example, every new contact, everyone tagged “Buyer”, or everyone added to an “Open house sign-ins” list.
- What should they receive, and when? Two to five emails is plenty. Space them out: a few days between the first emails, a week or more later on.
- What are you hoping they’ll do? Book a showing, request a valuation, reply. Once they do, the rest of the sequence shouldn’t keep going.
Choose the trigger
- Go to Automations, give your automation a name such as “New buyer welcome”, and click Create.
- Under Trigger and stop rule, choose when the sequence starts: when someone is tagged… (pick the tag), when someone is added to a list… (pick the list), or when a new contact is added.
Tags are the most flexible trigger, because you can tag someone from their profile, in bulk from the contact list, or straight after an import.
Add and design the emails
- Click Add email and set how many days after the previous email it goes out. For the first email, 0 days means it sends as soon as someone is enrolled.
- Each email opens in the same designer you use for campaigns, with your branding filled in. Give it a subject line and preview text.
- Repeat for each email in the sequence. You can change the wait before any email, or remove one, at any time.
Every person gets each email once, in order. Each email gets its own results: how many it was sent to, and how many people opened and clicked.
Set a stop rule
Under Stop early when they click a link containing, enter part of the web address of the link that means “they did it”. For example, if your emails link to yourwebsite.com/book-a-showing, enter book-a-showing. Once someone clicks a matching link in any of your emails after they started the sequence (one of its emails or a regular campaign), the remaining emails aren’t sent.
Leave it blank to always send every email. Either way, unsubscribing, bouncing or being suppressed always stops the sequence for that person.
Switch it on
- Look over the Switch it on panel. If anything is missing, such as an email that isn’t designed yet, it tells you what to fix first.
- Choose who starts the sequence: only people who qualify from now on, or also everyone who already has the tag or is on the list.
- Click Switch on. When real sending is on, an Organization Admin switches automations on and confirms they may send real email.
You can edit the emails at any time; changes apply to everyone who receives them from then on. To change the trigger, Pause the automation first. Pausing never loses anyone’s place: when you switch it back on, everyone carries on where they left off, and people who qualified while it was paused are enrolled too.
Sequences worth building
- New subscriber welcome (trigger: a new contact is added): a warm hello right away, your most useful resource three days later, and an invitation to get in touch a week after that.
- Buyer lead nurture (trigger: tagged “Buyer”): how you work with buyers, a neighbourhood guide, then “ready to see homes?”, stopping when they click your booking link.
- Seller lead nurture (trigger: tagged “Seller”): a home valuation offer, a seller’s guide and a check-in, stopping when they request the valuation.
- Open house follow-up (trigger: added to an open-house list): a thank-you the next day, similar listings a few days later, and a friendly check-in the week after.
